OMNICRON LIC-390 ISOLATION COUPLER DESCRIPTION The LIC-390 isolation coupler is used to connect a logging recorder to telephone circuits, two-way radio lines, etc. It provides a balanced line-input, transformer isolation, capacitive coupling, RF bypass, and balanced line-output. A voltage sensing mute circuit prevents voice activated recorders from false triggering when the coupler is connected to a voltage controlled telephone line. The high impedance input circuit permits connection to balanced and unbalanced audio sources, with minimal loading. No internal or external power is required, 3"L x 2"W x 1"H. INSTALLATION The input cable (normally terminated with a modular RJ-11 telephone style plug) should be connected to the source of audio to be monitored. If the modular plug is not used, connect the red wire in the long cable to one side of the circuit and the green wire to the other side of the circuit. Polarity is not important. Connect the output cable (normally terminated with a 3.5mm mini-plug labeled AUX) to the audio input of your recording equipment. With Omnicron recorders this cable should plug into the "AUX" (auxiliary/line input) jack on the recorder. If the coupler was purchased as part of a customized recording system, the cable terminations may have been changed to match your specific application. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT NOTES Do not use the LIC-390 on a party or pay phone line, since it will record the conversations of all parties. This would be unlawful. Federal law 90-351 title 18, section 2511, sub section 2D, requires that at least one participant in a recorded conversation be informed of the recording. Check your state and local regulations for further guidelines. The LIC-390 is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for 90 days from the date of purchase. Damage to products resulting from physical abuse or electrical misuse voids this warranty. Out of warranty units will be repaired for a nominal handling charge plus the cost of parts and transportation. If the unit requires service, disconnect the unit and return it to the factory or your place of purchase for repair.
