RSA-M4 TWO-WAY RADIO
SUPERVISORY ADAPTER

DESCRIPTION
The RSA-M4 is used to provide a simple and inexpensive method of connecting voice logging recorders to two-way radios that are not remote controlled (with remote controlled radios most digital logging recorders can be directly connected to the control pair).
When the radio is transmitting, a relay is used to disconnect the audio output of the RSA-M4 from receive audio and connect it to the transmitter audio only when transmitting. The RSA-M4 is designed to match audio levels common with Motorola radius series of 2-way radios. It increases the transmit audio volume fed to the recorder by 500% to match receive audio and has a green LED to indicate when it is sending transmit audio to the recorder.

INSTALLATION
The RSA-M4 is supplied with cables and connectors wired
to meet most standard applications. It can also be
          customized to meet unusual requirements.

1.    The short three wire gray cable connects to the two-way radio audio.
         a) Connect the
BLACK lead to radio common (chassis ground).
         b) Connect the
GREEN lead to receive audio (about 0.5 vAC when active).
         c) Connect the
RED lead to transmit audio (about 0.1 vAC when active).

2.    The short two wire gray cable connects to the 2-way radio transmitter
power. It powers the relay that switches the audio output (RJ-11 jack)
from receiver audio to transmit audio when the radio is transmitting.
            a) Connect the
BLACK lead to radio common (chassis ground,
                   as with 1a).
            b) Connect the
RED lead to a point in the radio that has +12vDC
power when transmitting (10 to 15vDC@40ma). This voltage
                  also powers the green LED.

3.  The RJ-11 telephone style jack on the RSA-M4 connects to your recorder’s
audio input. Receive and transmit audio are mixed together on the
center two pins of this RJ-11 jack. Use the cable supplied with
each RSA-M4 or other suitable wiring to connect from this jack
          to your recorder.

4.  Locate a convenient spot  to mount the RSA-M4. Ensure that there
is enough slack in the cables so that they can be easily un-plugged,
if required, and that it will not interfere with the operation of the radio.
Use the double stick foam pad and cable ties which are included
         with each RSA-M4.

IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY

If the unit fails to work properly, check all connections and test your

from your place of purchase, or directly from Omnicron Electronics.

NOTE
Federal law 90-351 title 18, section 2511, sub section 2D,
requires that at least one participant in a recorded
conversation be informed of the recording. Check your
state and local regulations for further guidelines.

       Contact your Omnicron representative
for assistance in he selection of the products
that are best suited to your application.
