12.      Appendix A, Glossary of Terms

PABX/PBX

Private Automatic Branch Exchange/Private Branch Exchange

MDF

Distribution Frame, normally used in a communications room to distribute and patch cabling.

DTMF

Dual Tone Multi Frequency

Extension Side

Normally referred to as the office side, station side or handset side of the PABX.

Trunk

Incoming telephone phone lines, either analogue or digital.

Handset

The base of the desktop phone equipment and cradle for the hand-piece.

Handpiece

Hand-held assembly that includes microphone (mouthpiece) and speaker (earpiece).

Handset Adapter

A device to tap the audio signal from the handpiece of a telephone handset. Also referred to as a Handset Patch, or Logger Patch or Handset Splitter.

Beep Tone

A tone that sounds, every 15 secs, to alert that the call is being recorded.

CLI/CLIP

Caller Line Identification, Caller ID, or Caller Line Identification Presentation.

SMDR

Station Message Detail Recording, or sometimes CDR (Call Detail Recording).

Status Line

Information line displayed at the bottom of each of the User Menus.

UPS

Uninterruptible Power Supply

DSP

Digital Signal Processor

   

  13.      APPENDIX B, LCD Screen Messages 

Date

The date the call was placed or received.

Time

The start time of the call.

Len

The length or duration of the call, in minutes and seconds.

Number

The inbound or outbound call number.

> <

The direction of the call is displayed if either CLI or DTMF has been captured.

CH#

The channel number associated with the call.

ST

The status of the call (see below).

 

The possible messages in the status column are as follows:

             *  = The call is tagged.
           
C   = The call is current (i.e. it is happening at this time).
           
X     = The call has been damaged.
           
A     = The call has been archived.
           
M    = Monitoring this live call.

 If a call is being replayed the status column will indicate the following:

             >         = Playing
           
>>       = Fast Forward
           
>>>    = Skipping Forward
           
<<       = Rewinding
           
-           = Paused

Upgrade Possibilities & Procedure

Each Total Recall unit can accommodate up to 2 DSP (Digital Signal Processor) cards. The 8-channel model could have either a single 8-channel DSP card (TR-08S in table below), or two 4-channel DSP cards (special order, TR-08 in table below).  Contact your Total Recall representative for upgrade assistance.

Upgrading Total Recall to Higher Channel Capacities

The 4, 8, and 12 channel versions of Total Recall can all be upgraded to a higher channel capacity by the addition of a 4-channel (Part Number TR-U4) or 8-channel (Part Number TR-U8) DSP card. Total Recall can accommodate 2 DSP cards only so the upgrade may necessitate the prior removal of an existing DSP card(s). Possible permutations:
