Note: This page covers out-of-date software released prior to 2003. Click here for current Total Recall software notes, download and installation instructions.

Total Recall Software V2.21 (Build 3). Software Version V2.11 (Build 2) was the last release. All shipments of Total Recall since June 21, 2002 have been shipped with Software V2.21 (Build 3) or higher.

Features Introduced with Version 2.21, June 21, 2002

Additional VOX trigger levels introduced. V2.21 (Build 2) features six VOX trigger levels to provide improved control over VOX triggering. The new settings are called VOX 1 through VOX 6 and the thresholds are given in Table 1 (below):

 Issues Resolved

Calls received during an auto deletion process were not displayed on the Logging Menu until a database rebuild had been performed. This has been remedied.

Minor Adjustments

LCD screen dialogue boxes were timing out. Now the security timeout still activates, but the dialogue box remains on the screen until the user depresses any button on the keypad. For example, when searching calls from a CD, after 2 minutes the search result dialogue box timed-out and the CD unlocked. The search would have to be reinitiated if the user was not observing the screen in the two-minute interval before the timeout occurred.

The only exception will be that the dialogue box will still be overridden for an auto-archive or an auto-deletion. This applies to both CD and internal searches for consistency.

Changes to User Manual

The changes from the previous User Manual are highlighted below:

·        Description of VOX trigger levels and new ‘screen grab’

Use the <UP>  <DOWN> arrow keys to scroll through each setting and the <SELECT> key to change the options in each box. When finished, highlight the OK button and <SELECT> to confirm the settings or Cancel to return to the Options Menu.

Trigger:

This is the setting that starts a recording on a channel. The trigger can be VOX, 1 through 6 (voice or audio signal), Off-Hook (a voltage level trigger from the handset) or Off.

VOX 6:  High signal and low sensitivity (-20dBm).

VOX 6 would pick up “loud” conversations, but may not pick up very soft conversations.

VOX 4: The default setting is VOX 4 (-28dBm).

VOX 1: Low signal and high sensitivity (-40dBm).

VOX 1 would pick up a very soft voice, but VOX 1 may also trigger the recorder from a noisy line.

Off-Hook: This is the recommended setting for normal recording from a telephone line.

Features Introduced with Version 2.11, June 28, 2001

Support for the Korean Language has been added.
While waiting for Total Recall to calculate how many calls were available to archive, the 120 second security timeout caused the count to be overwritten.  With V2.11 (Build 2) the security timeout still activates, but now leaves the dialog box on the screen, which is consistent with other archive timeouts.
Archiving “Found Calls” will now archive all the calls that the search procedure finds.  Previously, only the listed calls were archived, and this was limited to the first 1000 calls.

Minor Adjustments

The Spanish Translation has been improved.
If calls had been removed as part the archive process, then the message box at the end of the archive now says 'Archive Completed.  (‘x’ calls removed)'.
The 'Choose another CD' dialog box previously timed out after 120 seconds, which would then give the misleading message 'Archiving Cancelled by User'.  This has been corrected.
The screen message when searching for calls on a multi archive CD has been improved. Previously a search of a multi-archive CD containing 10 sessions of 5 calls each would display "All 5 calls have been searched." instead of "All 50 calls have been searched."  This has been corrected.
The button to use the Italian language is now labeled  'Italiano' instead of 'Italian'.

If you are updating your Total Recall recorder from V1.33, the following features were introduced with V2.00 on June 21, 2001.

Important Note: Software upgrade from V1.33 to V2.00 or higher will restructure the call database on the hard drive into multiple directories. Although this process will not damage call files, we strongly recommend that the call database be archived to CD before V2.00 or higher is installed at a customer site.

New and simplified User Interface with only 3 Menus (Options, Search, Logging).
Users can specify that recording will only occur between predetermined times (ex: between 09:00 and 17:00).
Each recorder can now have a unique user defined ID (up to 4 digits). This is useful for sites with multiple recorders. This ID is stored with every call and can be viewed on Remote Recall V1.30.
Introduction of Simplified Chinese to the language options.
Channels not being used can now be selected 'Off ' as a line setting. This prevents the possibility of false triggering through cross-talk from live channels. 'Off ' is the recommended setting for unused channels.
It is now possible to scroll through all calls on the database from the Logging Menu and not just the calls visible on the screen.
The password needs to be entered only one time and full access is permitted to all Menus. The password will only need to be re-entered after 120 seconds of inactivity.
For added security, the password can now be up to 6 digits long instead of only 4 digits as in previous versions.

Minor Adjustments to the User Interface

In the Status Column (Logging Menu) the 'D' (Damaged) marker has been changed to 'X' (this assists international users).
When replaying a call, the Status Column now indicates the speed and direction of replay using arrow markers.
A Padlock Icon has been added to the LCD screen indicating when a password is necessary to access the menus.
The LCD now displays 12 digits of a phone number before truncating.

Database Rebuilding

The length of time required to rebuild the call database has been excessive, particularly when the hard drive is nearly full. In order to manage the database rebuild more efficiently the call database on the hard drive has been restructured into multiple directories in V2.00 (a maximum of 25 directories with 20,000 calls per directory) rather than one single directory as in previous releases. We have also implemented a smart 'Do I need to rebuild the database?' routine which enhances the speed of database rebuild in that only those directories that had open and active files will be rebuilt after a dirty shutdown.

Manual Archiving

·        Manual Archiving has been improved by providing more comprehensive archiving options and improved information on the archive process.

·        The ability to “Tag” and “Untag” calls has been improved allowing faster Manual Archiving.

 Auto Archiving

·        Auto Archive handles “No New Calls” and “No CD Found” more sensibly, giving useful feedback to the user.

·        The selection criteria for setting the Automatic Archive period is greatly enhanced.

·        The time and date of the next Auto Archive is now displayed on the screen.

If you are upgrading from Software Version 1.33 (see below if upgrading from V2.00):

Installation Notes

The install program now has several layers of warnings.  These include:

  1. A 'I really suggest you backup calls first' style message.
  1. If the bios settings will be changed it is followed by a 'I REALLY REALLY suggest you backup the calls first' style message.
  1. If there are calls on the system, it will then ask if the user wants to delete the calls or keep the calls. The user has to confirm to erase the calls.

The installation CD now has a more intuitive directory structure.
